Past/Current Projects
These projects highlight my experience and background with the arts, gardening, and community involvement.
 I created and implemented my own daycare program that enhances the creative arts activities that children currently enjoy, adding an element of nature, and the NatGeo Learning framework to cultivate an explorer's mindset. It is also increases confidence through sense of accomplishment, provides additional exposure to new coping skills and emotion management, increases knowledge and awareness of environmental stewardship. |  I received my National Geographic Educator Certification in 2020 after completing the training course through the National Geographic Society, and was invited to be a mentor for the Winter 2021 cohort.  I participated in the Food Systems, Health, and Environment study abroad program in Havana, Cuba in Summer 2018. I won the photo contest for my entry "Friend Request" noting the warmth and social connection I experienced and observed in comparison to US culture. I attribute part of that to the fact that WiFi is not easily accessible in Cuba. We also got to tour eco-communities, gardens, and learn about Cuba's socialized healthcare system. |  I organized a Veterans & Family Community Art Show at REACH Community Development encouraging veterans and low-income residents in Portland to share their artwork in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, encouraging de-stigmatization of mental illness.  I participated in Art of Care Volunteer Week at Patch Adams' Gesundheit Institute free hospital project in West Virginia. We helped with gardening projects, harvesting, general maintenance, and learned about humanitarian medical clowning. We also learned about the importance of self-care, the need for human connection, and the joy of service. Pictured: Mariana, Genevra, Nathan, Emma, Cristy, Camilo and me. |  I volunteered my services with the Art with a Heart in Healthcare program at Wolfson Children's Hospital from 2015-16; I fulfilled patients' art requests and provided bed-side art experiences for children in the oncology department. |

 I created the logo for the new Rainbow Health Center opening in May 2016 (Olympia, WA.) |  During my workaway travels in Crete, Greece I created murals of an Olive Tree, Hibiscus flower, room signage and art restoration work. 2013. |

 I assisted with photography and editing English translations for artist profiles, which can be found on the new Meta Lands website; connecting artists/places and those who enjoy self expression! This photo was taken during the Festival of Colors in Metaxourgeio, Greece in 2013. |  I used collage art to facilitate language learning with my students in Beijing, China in 2012. |

 I volunteered at Ballyneety Language School in Limerick Ireland in the summer of 2012; I used creative arts and drama to facilitate language learning with kids from Spain, France and Italy. |  I stayed at an art farm in Roscommon, Ireland where I added art and creative flare to a retreat center. I also assisted with sustainable community garden building with members of the Irish Traveller community (also known as Gypsy). |

 During my senior internship at Evergreen, I returned to my old elementary school (Michael T. Simmons) and lead art enrichment activities with students K-6. My favorite project was doing watercolor with the kindergartners; I asked them to paint different feelings. This one was by 6 yr old Rachele Remy's version of "Love." |  I assisted with installing the leaves on the Olympia Rafah Mural, and was the voice for the Coffee Strong leaf during my college internship. |

 While in college at South Puget Sound Community College, I helped design the set and the school seal for the play "No Child" directed by Don Welch. I was also the executive artist for "Little Women" and "Sweet Charity" at A.G. West Black Hills High School. |  I created a series of 26 half-portraits of my graduating senior class at A.G. West Black Hills High School under the instruction of my art teacher, Dave Wegener. |
