Past/Current Projects

These projects highlight my experience and background with the arts, gardening, and community involvement.

I created and implemented my own daycare program that enhances the creative arts activities that children currently enjoy, adding an element of nature, and the NatGeo Learning framework to cultivate an explorer's mindset. It is also increases confidence through sense of accomplishment, provides additional exposure to new coping skills and emotion management, increases knowledge and awareness of environmental stewardship.

"Friend Request" - Cuba Study Abroad

I participated in the Food Systems, Health, and Environment study abroad program in Havana, Cuba in Summer 2018. I won the photo contest for my entry "Friend Request" noting the warmth and social connection I experienced and observed in comparison to US culture. I attribute part of that to the fact that WiFi is not easily accessible in Cuba. We also got to tour eco-communities, gardens, and learn about Cuba's socialized healthcare system.

REACH Veteran's Art Show

I organized a Veterans & Family Community Art Show at REACH Community Development encouraging veterans and low-income residents in Portland to share their artwork in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, encouraging de-stigmatization of mental illness. October 2017.

Gesundheit Institute

I participated in Art of Care Volunteer Week at Patch Adams' Gesundheit Institute free hospital project in West Virginia. We helped with gardening projects, harvesting, general maintenance, and learned about humanitarian medical clowning. We also learned about the importance of self-care, the need for human connection, and the joy of service. Pictured: Mariana, Genevra, Nathan, Emma, Cristy, Camilo and me.

Love

During my senior internship at Evergreen, I returned to my old elementary school (Michael T. Simmons) and lead art enrichment activities with students K-6. My favorite project was doing watercolor with the kindergartners; I asked them to paint different feelings. This one was by 6 yr old Rachele Remy's version of "Love."

Oly Rafah Mural Project

I assisted with installing the leaves on the Olympia Rafah Mural, and was the voice for the Coffee Strong leaf during my college internship.

School play

While in college at South Puget Sound Community College, I helped design the set and the school seal for the play "No Child" directed by Don Welch. I was also the executive artist for "Little Women" and "Sweet Charity" at A.G. West Black Hills High School.
